We just returned from 8 heavenly days of vacation (part with our kids and part without) and while it's wonderful to be home and settle back into our busy routines, looking at photos of our time away makes me nostalgic for lazy days spent by the beach.
I personally think that having a planned getaway on the horizon, be it a simple quiet dinner alone with your babe, or a fun girls weekend, is essential for keeping the balance in everyday living. It doesn't necessarily have to be a luxurious vacation to a far off destination, but it's amazing what wonders a few hours of respite from a hectic weekday can do for your overall peace of mind.
The anticipation of a break, for the fun plans ahead, is the carrot that I sometimes chase amidst the chaos of a busy work week or the many sleepless nights with young children. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the smiles of my happy kids but I will concede that this Mama also finds her happiness in a skinny margarita, the loud crash of waves on a beach, a good book, and a whole lotta sun ;)
Below, some vacation looks & snapshots of our time away:
Loved our stay at the beautiful LAS VENTANAS Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
My beach reads included 'The Silent Wife' by A. Harrison and also 'Drinking & Tweeting' by Brandy Glanville...so off side but shamefully entertaining!
Nookie Beach Love Aesthetics Maxi Dress, Gucci Rubber Katina Sandals, Namrata Joshipura Ikat Twist Turban Headband, Ray Ban Oversized Aviator Sunglasses
Melissa Odabash Emma Straw & Turquoise Bead Hat, Alice by Temperley Gisel Embroidered Maxi Dress (no longer available online), Gucci Rubber Sandals (link in previous photo)
We took a sailboat cruise out whale watching (wearing Surf Gypsy Crochet Swim Cover Up Shorts, Melissa Odabash hat *see previous photos for link*, Melanie Auld Earrings & LNA Racer Back Tank)
...and this happened...!
Valentines Day dinner with our favorite travel companions, Alex & Melanie Auld. Mel looking beautiful in a poppy colored BCBG dress and I wore a pink tie dyed LoveShackFancy dress I snagged from Shopbop last month at 50% off :) Unfortunately the pink is sold out online but other color options can be found HERE
Pretty florals everywhere - blending in with the scenery wearing this dress by Australian line Shakuhachi.
My favorite tropical wear color combination: coral & turquoise was worn with Christian Louboutin Nude Patent Arakna Sandals, Gypsy05 Miyoshi Silk Tube Dress, Ippolita Gold & Turquoise bangle - this exact style is no longer available, similar style found HERE & Melanie Auld Turquoise & Druzy Earrings
Another Shopbop sale find was this bright & gorgeous Dannijo Mallory necklace. Presently only available online HERE
We took a family trip after Mexico to the desert - it was our first time there and we loved Palm Springs!
THE PARKER is laid back and modern with a 'retro-cool-bohemian' vibe. Decor is eclectic and fun with chic amenities like Hermès soap in their restrooms. Old Hollywood photos decorate the hotel and well worn fashion, and retro glam coffee table books adorn the dressers of the suites. It didn't feel too 'upscale' or adult for children, in fact there is a small separate pool for families. Our kids especially loved the resorts signature lemonade :)
Adiós paradise ~ until next time..
